62. Going to stop personally blogging and start creating content and videos for entrepreneurs from SKINNyprice

Since arriving here in sunny California and the tech-hub of the world, Silicon Valley, I have been running around with my head cut off. You only have so many hours in the day and I believe my investors would rather me spend my time on pushing the company forward than creating blog post about what we have done. So I will no longer be posting here at least for a while.

One thing I am considering is creating is a video blog called SKINNYstartups which will be a show for entrepreneurs that will help them start companies. I figure I'm a horrible writer but great at video and can teach young entrepreneurs from the lesson I have learned along the adventure I am on. Plus having a show like this could be a great opportunity to network with people in the area while also giving back and paying it forward. Any PR is great PR they say.

Well, I bid you fair well for now.

61. Head West Young Man... Head West

Well, the move is officially over and I am so happy to be here. It has been an incredibly stressful but things have a way of working out for me when I put my mind to it. I'm living in San Francisco SOMA section and I'm actually paying $1,000 less than the average going lease price. I also shipped everything from terminal to terminal instead of from doorstep to doorstep and because I did the work I only paid $1400 dollars versus $3000 or $5000 if I had used movers. HaHa. I love finding ways to be a bargain hunter.

I also have interviewed and got into Rocket-Space for my new office space. They only take startups that have come out of accelerator programs and are already seed funded. So not only is the space rocking but it's full of teams that are movers and shakers. Should make some great connections here and learn a lot. Some of the teams that have come out of here are: Zappos, Uber, Zaarly, Giftiki, Mashape, PocketGems, Context Loigic to name a few. So this is another check in my column for getting in and it is 2 blocks from the Infinity Towers. (like I said... things have a way of working out)

So I made a quick little video picture mash up of the journey. Take a look.

Oh yaa... on a finally thought... I was here less than a day and was parking spot in the building and got talking to my new neighbor in the garage. He asked me why I relocated and I explained about my startup and how I had talked to a founder from the year before mine at MassChallenge incubator program. He explained that out here in California it is all about chance encounters. Running into a great new advisor while rock climbing or running into a VC at the coffee shop. Well my new friend in the garage had a big laugh and said, "Well your friend is right, I'm a partner at a VC firm and we should talk some more." Pretty narly that I met my first VC in less than 24 hours. I guess I'm in the right place. So glad I came out here. The energy is hard to explain unless your here.

59. "TGIPF" Thank Goodness It's Patent Friday

So today is a big day for SKINNYprices because we filed our non-provisional patent with international rights. This 55 page big old fat document is a ton of hard work over the past few months between myself and my law firm Foley & Lardner. I would like to specially thank Max Colice (Foley patent lawyer) who I worked mostly with. We are very proud of the patent, it's strength, and the outline or road map we have created for I.P. moving forward. I really enjoy working with Foley & Lardner and I feel so much more comfortable having some real I.P. behind SKINNYprices. Today is a really good day!

58. San Francisco Here We Come

Had a great trip with out to San Francisco with my Advisor/President Ian Karnell. We got to meet some successful investors and bounce our concept off of them (We are not asking for money yet). Got some great feedback and made some great connections. Even got to got out to dinner with a group of 12 entrepreneurs from the area. I really enjoyed the visit and love the vibe that San Francisco has when it comes to entrepreneurial spirit. We plan on making many more trips out there and I will put together a future blog post comparing East Coast vs. West Coast once I have a few more trips under my belt.

-Great weather
-Strong entrepreneurial community
-Family out there
-A lot more funding out there
-And now some good friends

West Coast may be calling and I may be seduced by the call....

57. Don't want to give away too much

Since the end of MassChallenge we have been advised not to blog too much about what we are doing for competitive reasons. So we have been concentrating  on building/testing/building/testing etc. We have verified many assumptions and are moving with great speed. We are taking our provisional patent and filing our non-provisional the beginning of February. Then we can feel more comfortable blogging again.

Have a great holiday time and enjoy New Years.

56. MassChallenge Finals

Last night was the final ceremony for MassChallenge. Even though I wasn't one of the final 26 teams to get a chance at the money I still took my judging round as a positive. They gave me great positive feedback, loved my drive and energy, and also loved how much I accomplished during the accelerator as a one man team. I guess my overall points must not have been high enough to move on. But still... to have 6 V.C. judges listen to your idea and give you positive feedback is a win in my book. And now I'm even more posed to make this a successful company. I have had 4 people join the team and we should be finishing up our beta by the end of December and launching. So this is a very exciting time. I love the momentum we have I can't wait to start showing people our product.
